Holy Priest

Tank-focused direct healing with Renew, Heal and Flash Heal, plus Prayer of Mending and Prayer of Healing for groups.

Updated

Based on beta data (level 30 cap); will be updated as Forever details are confirmed. Stat priorities are provisional.

How Holy plays

Holy is a pure healing spec and most of your healing goes on the tank. Healing is a priority list, not a fixed sequence. Renew stays up, Heal is your efficient heal and Flash Heal is the emergency button.

Litany of Light refunds part of the mana cost when you alternate heals, so swap between Heal and Flash Heal or Binding Heal instead of casting the same spell over and over.

Core spells

Spell Use
Renew Keep it on the tank; lower ranks on targets without steady damage
Heal Main, mana-efficient heal; Divine Fury shortens the cast
Flash Heal Expensive, fast; when the tank is about to die
Binding Heal Heals you and the target together
Prayer of Mending Bounces between injured party members
Greater Heal Big single-target heal from level 40
Prayer of Healing 3 second cast, heals the party of the target within 40 yards
Power Word: Shield Absorb; in Forever rage users still gain rage from absorbed hits
Holy Nova Threat-free heal for everyone within 10 yards

Single target and tank healing

  1. Keep Renew on the tank.
  2. Cast Heal as the main heal. Downrank when damage is predictable.
  3. Cast Flash Heal if the tank is about to die.
  4. Cast Binding Heal when you and the tank are both hurt.
  5. Cast Prayer of Mending on the tank and let it jump.
  6. Cast Greater Heal for a large heal once you have it, downranked as well.
  7. Cast Power Word: Shield on the tank if you have spare mana.
  8. Alternate heals to get the Litany of Light refund.

Group healing

  1. Keep Renew on the tank.
  2. Cast Prayer of Mending on an injured target.
  3. Cast Prayer of Healing when most of the party is low. It heals the party of the target you pick, not your own party.
  4. Use Holy Nova on stacked trash pulls for threat-free group healing.
  5. Go back to single-target heals once group damage stops.

Ranks and downranking

Higher ranks heal more and cost more. Each rank’s bonus from Healing Power depends on its cast time: a 3.5 second cast gets 100%. In Classic, ranks learned below level 20 had a penalty. Forever raised many lower-rank coefficients, so downranking is still good for mana and the penalty is smaller than in Classic.

Heal and Greater Heal are the main downrank candidates; keep a high rank bound for real danger. Downranking Flash Heal is less useful because you are paying for speed.

Mana

Alternate spells for Litany of Light, downrank Heal on steady damage and save Prayer of Healing for pulls where most of the party is low, because it drains mana quickly. Spiritual Guidance turns Spirit into healing.

Cooldowns

  • Spirit of Redemption: triggers on death; for 15 seconds (10 in Classic) you can cast healing spells for free, then you die. Use it to finish the pull or get a resurrect out.
  • Fade: temporary threat drop if you pull aggro.

Stat priority (provisional)

  1. Healing Power
  2. Intellect
  3. MP5
  4. Spirit
  5. Spell Crit
  6. Stamina

Dungeons and raids

  • Dungeons: focus the tank with Renew and Heal; Holy Nova and Prayer of Mending for trash; Power Word: Shield is safe on rage tanks.
  • Raids: mostly single-target; heal your assigned targets, downrank for efficiency and keep Prayer of Healing for raid-wide damage on your party.
